Francis J. Gavin, Tom Slick Professor of International Affairs, The Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin, has been named Director of The Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law.

President-elect Barack Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden announced the nomination of key members of their national security team, including James B. Steinberg for Deputy Secretary of State, and Jacob Lew for Deputy Secretary of State, and the appointment of Thomas E. Donilon as Deputy National Security Advisor and Antony "Tony" Blinken as National Security Advisor to the Vice President.

The Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law is making grants to support LBJ School students working in the developing world this summer for non-profit development organizations. The grants, which will be awarded in amounts up to $4,000, are made possible by the William H. Crook Chair in International Affairs.
